Definition

Students who are enrolled in or on a leave of absence from a university or higher education institution or who have graduated from a university are granted transfer midway to the University.

Types of Transfer

  • General Transfer
    • For those who transfer to the University to complete an undergraduate degree course after having studied in a university for a certain period of time, or who are recognized to have an equal or higher academic standing under the national law.
  • Transfer with Bachelor's Degree
    • For those who transfer to the University after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
  • Transfer of medical personnel
    • For those who transfer to the Department of Nursing at the University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Transfer of military consignment
    • For those who transfer to the University on military consignment.

Eligibility

  • General Transfer
    • Having completed at least the second year of study at a four-year university, graduated (expected to graduate) from a community college, or recognized as having an equal or higher academic standing.
  • Transfer with Bachelor's Degree
    • Having obtained a bachelor’s degree (or expected) or recognized as having an equal or higher academic standing under the national law.
  • Transfer of medical personnel
    • Having obtained a bachelor’s degree (or expected) from the Department of Nursing at a recognized college.
  • Transfer of military consignment
    • Being recommended by the Minister of National Defense for military consignment and being recognized as having qualifications equal to general transfer students at the University.
  • Recognized as having qualifications equal to those under subparagraphs 1 and 2 under the rules and national laws, including the Higher Education Act and Enforcement Decree of the Higher Education Act, and University regulations.

Credit Transfers for Transfer Students

  • Credits transferred shall not exceed 17 per semester (18 for colleges, divisions, schools or departments that require a minimum of 135 credits or more for graduation).
  • Courses recognized for credit transfers shall not be retaken.
  • For general transfer students to the College of Education, credits transferred for major courses will be approved only when a student’s major at the University and at their previous institution are the same.
  • Credits transferred for general transfer students are recognized up to half of the minimum required credits for the major subjects of first, second, and dual majors, respectively.
  • Credit transfers shall not be approved for transfer students with a bachelor’s degree from a previous institution.
