Regulations Concerned
Korea University Academic Regulations Article 35 (School Year), Article 51 (Credit Withdrawal), Article 71 (Grade: Principle), Article 76 (Academic Evaluation), Article 77 (Academic Warning)
Credit Hour Value
1 credit is equal to 15 course hours (or more) per semester. However, for a lab or practical training (physical education) course, 1 credit is equal to 30 course hours (or more) per semester.
Academic Regulations
- First Year: Students who have acquired no more than 33(35) credits
- Second Year: Students who have registered for three or more semesters and acquired from 34(36) credits to 67(71) credits
- Third Year: Students who have registered for five or more semesters and acquired from 68(72) credits to 101(105) credits
- Fourth Year: Students who have registered seven or more semesters and acquired at least 102(106) credits
Credits in parenthesis apply to departments/divisions/schools requiring 135 or more credits for graduation.
Regulations regarding the status of students affiliated with the College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy are stipulated elsewhere, e.g., detailed enforcement regulations and internal regulations.

- 'P’(Pass)is given to students passing a subject evaluated on the basis of Pass or Fail.
- ‘S’(Satisfactory)is awarded for subjects that recognize credits without performance assessment
- ‘I’(Incomplete)is given when final assessment for the semester is temporarily deferred. If the grade is not confirmed within a set period of time, I is converted to F.
- Grades recognized for the awarding of credits: A+ to D, P and S
- Grade Recognition without taking Tests: Students who are unable to take examinations due to military service, illness, mourning, or other unavoidable circumstances should submit an explanatory statement and requisite documents (copy of draft notice, medical certificate, obituary notice, etc.) to the administration office of the relevant department/division/school before the examination.

Academic Warning
- Students achieving a GPA of less than 1.75 for a semester shall receive an academic warning, and the warning will be recorded in the student’s academic record.
- The academic warning shall be reported to the student, the student’s guardian and academic advisor (or Head of the Department/Division/School).
- Students receiving an academic warning for three consecutive semesters shall be removed from the student register.
Students registered for less than 12 credits will receive an academic warning but are not subject to the consecutive warnings clause referred to in paragraph 3.
